How to use a multimeter 4 - Alternative current measurement
USE:
- De-energise the circuit.
- Set up the DMM for resistance measurement and select say 2kā¦ range. (You can change ranges later if needed.)
- Connect the DMM to measure the resistor in the circuit, as shown. Write down its value.
- Set up the DMM for voltage measurement and select say 20V range. (You can change ranges later if needed.) You should NOT have to change the connections.
- Energise the circuit.
- Measure the voltage and write down its value.
- Use Ohm’s Law to calculate current as shown.
